What time do you get up in the morning?

If I’m being good I’ll get up at 7:30am, then do half an hour of yoga before having a healthy breakfast. If not, I skip the yoga and rush into the office with something not so healthy… But I always make sure I eat breakfast.

What’s your favourite coffee?

It depends really. But generally a white Americano is a good bet.

Tell me a little bit about your business.

I run a music company. We act as a booking agent and artist manager/developer for solo artists, bands, DJ’s… all sorts but we have to be into it. We are also music programmers for various bars, restaurants, clubs, venues, private parties, corporate dos, weddings and festivals. I’m a musician myself and I started to put on my own nights after being disillusioned by the promoters I dealt with – and realised that I could do a much better job! I made contacts, the circle grew and it became Nova Music.

Do you have any advice for someone looking to get into the industry?

Meet people! Say hello, make connections. Though you might feel a bit awkward or nervous, the most important thing is making those contacts. Be persistent – I was very annoying! But being in touch with people is essential. Also, as a person who reads a lot of emails every day, my advice would be to keep them short and concise to get the best response.

Who should we be listening to at the moment?

Ahh, there are so many to recommend! Firstly, Howard Rose, who is a brilliant musician in his own right and also his band, Colour Colour. They are just so good live! Their EP is coming out on the 10th of June and it’s the first release we’ve been directly involved with, so that’s really cool. Ralph Taylor, who is our youngest artist at just 18 years old – his music is kind of like a mix between Ed Sheeran, Jamie T and Will Heard. He’s definitely one to watch. And Hattie Whitehead – she came third in last year’s Glastonbury Emerging Talent competition which secured her a slot at Glastonbury – her sound is just beautiful.

What’s great about working at air space?

I love it here! There’s such a great sense of community. A bunch of us like to sit on the back table and work alongside each other, though we run different companies. In fact, one of the guys here has a clothing company called Clifton Clothing and he’s helping us out with some band T shirts. There’s also a really cool videography company upstairs called B-E-R-L-I-N who create visually incredible, mainly music focussed films, we’ll hopefully collaborate with them soon. Obviously Stacey (General Manager) and Baz are key to the big family vibe we have going on here!

What do you do to relax?

Yoga, swimming… and I love a bit of retail therapy! I also love watching things on Netflix. I’m currently watching Better Call Saul. It’s so slow-paced; it always sends me to sleep.
